Creme Brulee Custard Oatmeal

Creme Brulee Custard Oatmeal

Creme Brulee Custard Oatmeal

Being inspired by this post on Eating Out Loud and my own custard oatmeal, I decided to combine the two and see what happened. The results were spectacular, the oatmeal was rich, creamy and sweet.

Ingredients:

1/3 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup hazelnut milk (or your milk or choice)

1 egg, very well beaten

pinch of salt

1/4 cup blueberries

1 tsp granular fructose (or sugar)

Directions:

Combine milk and beaten egg in medium pot, add oats and salt. Over medium heat, constantly stir the mixture until it becomes thick and custard like, about 10 minutes, do not let it boil. Remove from heat and pour half the mixture into a custard cup. Top with the berries and then pour on the remaining oatmeal. Sprinkle the top with fructose, use more if you like it very sweet. Put the custard cup into a preheated broiler and broil until the top is golden brown and bubbling. Serve warm or cold.

  2. Oh my! This looks amazing. I will have to make this for my mom who loves creme brulee.

  3. Mmmmm, nicely done! I was curious how it would be with an egg included to make it a true custard. Looks good enough to lick my computer screen 🙂 Thanks for the shout-out, I appreciate it.
