Mama’s Almond Poppyseed Bread

This recipe brings back some of my fondest food memories as a child. My mon would always bake this bread for special family functions and sometimes, just because. Though it is called bread, it is very sweet and really falls into the dessert catergory.


Mama’s Almond Poppyseed Bread

3 cups self rising flour

2 1/2 cups sugar

1 stick of butter, melted

1/2 cup canola oil

1 1/2 cups milk

3 eggs

1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp almond extract

2 tbsp poppyseeds

Preheat oven to 350* and grease a 9 x 13 pan with butter. In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients together with a large wooden. Stir until just combined, there may be lumps. Pour into the greased baking pan and bake for 1 hour until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool and cut into squares.
